Driving to Grömitz
The standard route is simple: A1 towards Puttgarden/Fehmarn as far as the Neustadt-Pelzerhaken/Grömitz exit, then about 10 kilometres on the B501 straight into Grömitz. The B501 passes the Grömitzer Höhe at the edge of town; from there it is a few minutes to Seestraße.
Coming from Kiel and the north, take the B76 and B202 to Oldenburg in Holstein and then the B501 south. That way is prettier but slower.

These are guide values without traffic. On summer Saturdays the drive from Hamburg can easily take an hour longer.
Arrival day and traffic
The A1 between Hamburg and Lübeck is the bottleneck. Three things we have learned:
- Saturday morning is the worst slot. Between 9am and 1pm arriving and departing traffic overlaps at almost every Baltic resort.
- Friday afternoon out of Hamburg is also heavy. If you can flex, travel after 7pm on Friday or on Sunday morning.
- If the A1 is blocked, the B75/B207 via Bad Schwartau is a usable alternative, though it costs time.

By train
Grömitz has no station of its own. The nearest is Neustadt in Holstein, about 20 minutes away. From Hamburg Hauptbahnhof you travel via Lübeck to Neustadt; the station café houses a NAH.SH service point (Mon–Fri 7am–3pm).
From Neustadt station:
- Local bus towards Grömitz – the ostseecard gets you reduced fares along the coast.
- Taxi – easiest with luggage, about 20 minutes.
Oldenburg in Holstein works as an alternative station, also served by buses. In summer there are additional night train connections from southern Europe via Hamburg.
By air
The nearest airports are Lübeck (LBC) and Hamburg Fuhlsbüttel (HAM). From Hamburg it is about 1 hour 20 minutes by hire car, or roughly 2 hours 30 by train via the main station and Neustadt.
Parking in Grömitz
Grömitz has both free and paid parking; spaces near the beach and promenade are chargeable in season. For holiday apartment guests this is usually a side issue, because a parking space comes with the accommodation – ours included: Lieblingsplatz has its own space at the building, so you park once and leave the car there for the week.
If you are driving in for the day, there is parking at the Grömitzer Höhe and around the marina; on hot summer days the beachside areas fill up by late morning.
Charging an electric car
Grömitz currently has eight public charging stations, with more planned. You can also charge at our building: we offer a flat charging fee of €15 for the whole stay, however much you draw. Mention it when you book so we can enable the connection.
Getting around without a car
Grömitz is compact. On foot from Seestraße 9a:
